Bayt Al-Quran: Noorani Qaida-Lesson#18|Friday
Learning the Arabic letters: إِ (Alif), بِ (Baa), and تِ (Taa) with the vowel Kasrah ( ـِ )
Once upon a quiet afternoon in the Land of Letters, three curious explorers—ا, ب, and ت—set off on a brand-new journey. But this time, something was different. Each of them had a tiny line tucked beneath them—like a secret sign showing a new way to speak. It was the Kasrah ( ـِ ), a little diagonal stroke that changed their voices completely.
ا with a kasrah ( إِ ) now whispered a soft, short sound: "i" like in ink.
ب became بِ, bouncing gently like "bi" in biscuit.
And cheerful ت turned into تِ, tickling the tongue like "ti" in tickle.
They were still the same letters we knew and loved—but with the kasrah, they sounded lighter, quicker, as if they were tiptoeing instead of marching. This lesson is our chance to meet these graceful new sounds and practice letting them dance gently off our tongues. Ready to join the journey?
Let’s begin!
Key Learning Objectives:
Recognize the kasrah sign ( ـِ ) placed under a letter and understand its impact on pronunciation.
Correctly pronounce the sounds of إِ, بِ, and تِ with proper articulation and tajweed awareness.
Differentiate between the long vowel "ā" (as in ا) and the short vowel i sound produced by kasrah.
Strengthen letter-sound association through repeated verbal practice and listening activities.
Apply learning through worksheets provided in the Practice PDF, including tracing, coloring, and matching.
Engage kinesthetic and visual memory using fun activities like:
“Letter Hunt”: finding objects that start with the i/bi/ti sound.
“Sound Hop”: jumping to letter cards with the correct kasrah sound.
Craft corner: decorating each letter with the kasrah and creating a mini story for it.

Let’s Put Kasrah to the Test – Activity Sheet Time!
What’s better than learning? Learning through play—especially when new sounds are involved! To celebrate this milestone in your child’s Noorani Qaida journey, we’ve created a fun and interactive Kasrah Activity Sheet just for you and your little learner.
It’s packed with colorful, hands-on exercises to:
Practice the soft i sounds of إِ, بِ, and تِ
Trace the letters with kasrah for muscle memory
Match letters to their correct sounds
Read short letter combinations that feel like tiny words
This sheet is your mini workbook for the week — great for after-class revision, quiet-time engagement, or even a playful “reading race” at home. So grab those crayons, print out your sheet, and enjoy watching your child’s confidence grow—one kasrah at a time!
Playful Activities
1. Kasrah Sound Hop
What you need: Sticky notes or flashcards with إِ, بِ, and تِ written on them
How to play:
Spread the cards on the floor. Call out a sound (like bi), and have your child hop onto the correct letter. For added fun, mix in other letters/sounds they've learned before as “silly traps”!
2. Trace & Decorate
What you need: Printable worksheets or blank paper, markers, stickers
What to do:
Ask your child to trace the letters إِ, بِ, and تِ and then decorate each one with doodles or stickers that start with that sound (e.g., a bee for bi, a tooth for ti). This reinforces sound-letter connections in a fun and creative way.
3. “Guess the Sound” Box
What you need: A small box or bag, and small objects or picture cards (like ink for i, ball for bi, tiger for ti)
How to play:
Let your child pull one item out of the box without looking. They must guess the starting letter sound and match it to إِ, بِ, or تِ. You can also reverse roles for added giggles!
We’d Love to Hear From You!
How did your child enjoy exploring إِ, بِ, and تِ in today’s Kasrah lesson? Whether it was a giggle during Sound Hop or a proud moment tracing the letters just right—we’d be thrilled to hear all about it! Feel free to share a quick comment, a photo of their worksheet, or even a little video. Teacher Noura is always excited to celebrate their milestones with a kind note of encouragement, inshaAllah.
With every new sound they master, your child is not only learning to read Arabic but also gaining confidence in recognizing letters, connecting shapes with sounds, and beginning to decode words. These little moments add up to something truly powerful—a deep, joyful connection to the Quran.
You’re doing an amazing job, and your efforts are laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Keep going — your presence, patience, and prayers are shaping a beautiful journey, one kasrah at a time.
