Bayt Al-Quran: Noorani Qaida-Lesson#19|Monday
Learning the Arabic letters: ثِ (Thaa), جِ (Jeem), and حِ (Haa) with the vowel Kasrah ( ـِ )
Dear Parents and Young Learners, Alhamdulillah, we’ve now arrived at Lesson 19 of our Noorani Qaida journey! Each step your child takes is opening new doors to understanding the beauty of the Arabic language, and today’s lesson is an exciting one.
As we continue our adventure with the Kasrah ( ـِ ), three new letters have joined our team of brave explorers: ث, ج, and ح.
Each of them wears the tiny diagonal kasrah proudly beneath their feet, giving their voices a fresh, lighter sound:
ث with kasrah ( ثِ ) makes a gentle "thi" sound, like a soft breeze whispering by.
ج with kasrah ( جِ ) rolls smoothly into a "ji" sound, like a marble spinning across the floor.
ح with kasrah ( حِ ) breathes out a delicate "hi", airy and light like a feather in the sky.
Even though they are new to our journey, they fit right in, gliding gracefully with the other letters we've already met.
This lesson invites us to welcome ثِ, جِ, and حِ, practice their sounds, and continue building a strong, joyful connection with Arabic reading.
So, let’s begin!
Key Learning Objectives of this Lesson:
Identify the letters ثِ, جِ, and حِ with the kasrah sign placed under them.
Pronounce the sounds correctly:
ثِ as "thi" (like in "thin"),
جِ as "ji" (like in "jeep"),
حِ as "hi" (a soft "h" sound with "i").
Understand the different mouth, tongue, and throat positions needed for each sound.
Practice and trace the letters with kasrah through the provided Practice PDF worksheets.
Strengthen recognition and recall by matching letters to their kasrah sounds.
Boost confidence and fluency with fun games and hands-on activities.

Some Playful Activities
1. Kasrah Sound Treasure Hunt
What you need: Flashcards with ثِ, جِ, and حِ written on them, and small “treasure” items (stickers, candies, stars)
How to play:
Hide the flashcards around the room. Call out a sound (like "hi" for حِ) and let your child search and find the matching card. When they find the right one, they earn a “treasure”!
Bonus: You can mix in previous letters for an extra challenge.
2. Trace and Say Relay
What you need: Printed tracing sheets or a whiteboard and markers
How to play:
Set a mini timer. Your child has to trace the letter (like جِ) and say its sound out loud before the timer runs out.
Each correct trace-and-say earns them a point! Play together to see who can collect the most points.
3. Silly Sound Stories
What you need: Your imagination!
How to play:
Make up a funny, short story where the characters' names start with ثِ (Thi), جِ (Ji), or حِ (Hi) sounds.
For example: “Thina the thinker, Jimi the jumper, and Hiba the hiker went on an adventure!”
Encourage your child to repeat and even create their own silly sound stories. This helps reinforce the beginning sounds in a fun and memorable way.
We Would Love to Hear About Your Little Explorer’s Journey!
How did your child enjoy meeting ثِ, جِ, and حِ in today’s Kasrah adventure? Whether it was a laugh during the Treasure Hunt or a proud moment perfectly tracing a letter — we would be delighted to hear about it!
Feel free to share a comment, a photo of their worksheet, or even a short video. Teacher Noura can't wait to celebrate their efforts and send a special message of encouragement, inshaAllah.
Each new sound your child masters is a building block — helping them recognize Arabic letters, connect the shapes to their sounds, and begin unlocking the world of Arabic reading. These small steps are growing into something beautiful: a strong, joyful bond with the Quran.
You are doing an incredible job, mashaAllah. Your support, patience, and encouragement are lighting the way on this journey — one kasrah sound at a time. 🌸 Keep going — every letter learned is a seed planted for a lifetime of Quranic love!
