Bayt Al-Quran: Noorani Qaida-Lesson#21| Monday
Learning the letters خِ, دِ, and ذِ for Little Learners
Dear Parents & Little Learners,
Welcome to Lesson 21 — another exciting step on our Noorani Qaida adventure! Today, we meet three lively letters that sparkle with rhythm and sound: رِ, زِ, and سِ. Each one has its own personality and flair, and your child is about to discover just how fun these Kasrah sounds can be!
First comes رِ (Raa) — it rolls off the tongue like a tiny drum, light and bouncy, ready to start a rhythm.
Next is زِ (Zaa) — soft and zippy, like the gentle hum of a bee on a sunny day.
And finally, سِ (Seen) — smooth and breezy, like a gentle whisper of wind sailing through the air.
With the Kasrah tucked beneath them, these letters take on a delightful “i” sound that your child will learn to spot, say, and write with growing confidence. Through playful repetition, tracing, and engaging sound games, today’s lesson is all about listening closely, speaking clearly, and having fun while learning!
So let’s get ready to roll, zoom, and swoosh through today’s sounds — because with every new letter, your child is building a joyful connection to the language of the Quran. Lest Start!
Key Learning Objectives of This Lesson
Recognize the letters ر, ز, and س when paired with the Kasrah, producing the sounds رِ (Ri), زِ (Zi), and سِ (Si).
Pronounce each sound clearly, noticing the smooth flow of رِ, the buzzing sharpness of زِ, and the soft hissing of سِ.
Strengthen fine motor skills by tracing each letter with the Kasrah to reinforce writing and letter formation.
Improve listening and phonemic awareness by identifying Kasrah sounds within spoken and written practice words.
Reinforce previously learned Kasrah letters by blending them with today’s sounds in review games or mini-words.
Build early reading confidence through repetition, recognition, and sound association.

Some Playful Activities
1. “Spin & Say” Letter Wheel
What you need: A homemade spinner with the letters رِ, زِ, and سِ, or flashcards arranged in a circle.
How to play:
Let your child spin a paperclip or pointer on the wheel. Wherever it lands, they say the letter and sound out loud (e.g., "Zaa with Kasrah – زِ – Zi!"). Add a twist by asking them to trace the letter in the air or on the floor after saying it!
2. “Sound Detective” Word Hunt
What you need: A simple list or flashcards with tiny Arabic words (real or practice words) that include رِ, زِ, or سِ.
How to play:
Tell your child they’re a Sound Detective! They must search for and circle or highlight any word that includes today’s Kasrah letters. Each find earns a fun sticker or stamp. Bonus: have them read the full word aloud for extra points!
3. “Follow the Sound Path” Game
What you need: A path made of paper footprints or sticky notes with mixed letters. Only رِ, زِ, سِ lead to the “treasure.”
How to play:
Lay out the path and let your child walk across it. They must only step on footprints that have the correct Kasrah letters (Ri, Zi, Si). If they step on the wrong one, they go back to the start! This game is great for movement and sound recognition.
We’d Love to Hear About Your Child’s Growth
How wonderful it is to see your child take on the sounds of رِ, زِ, and سِ today! These little letters with their cheerful Kasrah sounds are not just sounds — they’re steps toward confidence, fluency, and a deeper connection with the Quran.
Did your child smile when they got زِ just right? Or maybe they nailed سِ during a game? I would absolutely love to hear about it! Send me a quick note, a photo of their activity sheet, or even a short video — I treasure every milestone, and I can’t wait to send a personal message of encouragement, inshaAllah.
Each sound your child learns helps them hear the music of the Arabic language more clearly. And each day you show up to support them, you’re laying down roots for a love of the Quran that will grow with them for life.
Keep going — you're doing a beautiful job.
