You’re in the car and suddenly your child starts singing a song you barely remember playing.
They know the words.
The pauses.
Even the little parts in between.
Then later, it’s Quran time.
One short ayah.
You repeat it together a few times.
And ten minutes later, they forget the beginning.
It’s hard not to think:
“How can you remember a whole song, but struggle with one ayah?”
The answer may be simpler than it seems.
Your child probably didn’t try to memorize the song.
They heard it again and again.
In the car.
While playing.
In the background.
There was no pressure. No correction after every line. No feeling that they were being tested.
The words just became familiar.
Quran learning can feel very different.
A child may be trying to pronounce Arabic correctly, remember the words, listen to corrections, and stay focused at the same time.
That is a lot.
Sometimes the issue is not memory.
Sometimes the learning method just needs to change.
Try this instead
If your child is learning one short ayah, don’t turn it into one long session.
Let them hear it in the morning.
Repeat a small part later.
Listen again before bed.
Keep it light.
You can also break the ayah into smaller pieces and focus on one part at a time.
Instead of saying:
“You knew this yesterday.”
Try:
“Let’s go over it again together.”
That small change can make Quran time feel much less stressful.
Remember, every child learns differently
Some children learn quickly by listening.
Some need more repetition.
Some need shorter lessons.
Some need one-to-one attention.
And some simply need more time.
The goal should not be to make every child learn at the same speed.
The goal is to find the way that helps your child learn best.
At AlQuranClasses, our one-to-one classes are designed around each student’s pace, level, and learning needs.
Because sometimes a child doesn’t need more pressure.
They just need the right approach.
